Ballyragget National School is situated in the village of Ballyragget (Béal Átha Ragad) which is ten miles north of Kilkenny city. The school was formed following the amalgamation of Scoil Naomh Bhríde (St. Brigid's GNS) and Scoil Chiaráin Naofa (Ballyragget BNS) in August 2018. The school caters for girls and boys from Junior Infants to 6th. The school is currently divided between two buildings. The junior building hosts pupils from Junior Infants to 2nd class and the senior building hosts 3rd class to 6th class.

The school buildings are well equipped with educational aids and also has a well-stocked library. The IT facilities in the school are comprehensive with tablets being availed of by all students. There are currently twenty members on the teaching and support staff. Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st Class, 2nd Class & our two Autism classes are based in our Junior Building while 3rd Class, 4th Class, 5th Class and 6th Class are based in our Senior Building.
The school is under the management of a Board of Management, which is elected in accordance with the DES Rules of Procedure. There is also an active and thriving Parents Council in the school. The Board actively supports and promotes the Parents Council.
